Our Philosophy

We're a small team with one belief: the businesses that make a neighborhood worth living in shouldn't disappear just because they can't afford to be seen.

Something changed in how people find the businesses around them. For twenty years, the answer was a search engine and a list of links. Now, more and more, people just ask an AI — "who's the best dentist near me for implants?", "which family lawyer should I call?" — and the AI gives them a short, confident answer. Three names, maybe five. Not a page of options. An answer.

That shift sounds small. It isn't. It quietly decides who gets found and who doesn't — and the businesses most likely to be left out are the ones with the least power to do anything about it.

What we're up against

We started Scout because we watched the same thing happen, over and over, to good small businesses:

Power is concentrating. The way people discover businesses is increasingly controlled by a handful of enormous AI systems. The big chains and franchises have teams, budgets, and agencies to adapt. The independent practice down the street has a person wearing six hats and no idea the ground just moved.

The decisions are invisible. AI assistants recommend some businesses and not others, and almost no one can see why. There's no ranking page, no scoreboard, no feedback. You're either in the answer or you're not — and if you're not, nobody tells you. You just quietly stop getting called.

The good tools are priced for giants. The enterprise platforms that track this stuff cost more per month than a small business spends on rent for its tools. The people who most need to understand their visibility are the ones who can least afford to.

And the game keeps getting gamed. Visibility has always been something the well-resourced learn to work and the small operator struggles to compete with fairly. AI didn't fix that. In some ways it made it harder to see.

None of this is the small business's fault. But it's their problem — and almost nobody is building for them.

What we're for

Scout exists to put a little power back in the hands of the people who've always been the backbone of their communities. We show you, in plain language, how AI describes and recommends your business — and exactly what to do about it. The same kind of visibility intelligence a national chain pays a fortune for, made simple and affordable enough for the business it's actually meant to help.

We're not here to promise you the moon, and we won't. AI is messy and changes constantly; no honest company can guarantee you'll be number one. What we can do is tell you the truth about where you stand, help you fix what's fixable, and keep watching so you're never invisible without knowing it. We'd rather under-promise and earn your trust than over-promise and lose it.

Our motto: don't be evil

Some big companies used to live by "don't be evil." Then, somewhere along the way, they quietly dropped it.

"Don't be evil."We're bringing it back.

For us it isn't a slogan — it's a set of commitments we hold ourselves to, especially when it comes to your data and your trust:

  • We will never sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to brokers, not to anyone. Your business information is yours. We use it to do the job you hired us for, and that's it.
  • We won't spam you. When you check your free score, that's one email — your results and a quick hello — and we mean one. When you're a customer, you get only the reports and alerts you actually want, when you want them.
  • We'll tell you the truth. Honest scores, honest limits, no inflated promises about rankings we can't control. If we don't know, we'll say so.
  • No traps. Transparent pricing, a free Prompt Score check before you ever pay, and cancellation that takes one click — as easy to leave as it was to join. We'd rather keep you because Scout is worth it than because we made leaving a chore.
  • We treat your data the way we'd want ours treated. Collected minimally, guarded carefully, and never used against you. (See our Privacy Policy and Contact page for the specifics — written to be read, not to hide things.)

We think a company should be able to do well by doing right. Scout is our attempt to prove it — to build something genuinely useful for the people too often left behind by the very technology reshaping their world, and to do it without becoming the thing we're trying to help them stand up against.

If you run one of those businesses: we built this for you. Welcome.
